Houses

We have four houses at school that were chosen by the school council. These are
The Wick
Heartwood
Clarence Park
Jersey Farm

These houses are all named after parks found in the nearby vicinity. Each child is placed in a house and over each year will support their house through various half termly house challenges and through our annual sports day.

Current house points for this year 2024 / 2025 are as follows:

The Wick                 350
Heartwood             350
Clarence Park        450
Jersey Farm           550

Just before Half term in October 2024 the children took part in the first house challenge of the year. This was a collaborative challenge and children worked on their artwork together. This term's house challenge, the first of the new academic year, had an Art focus. The children worked together and collaborated, like Rufus Rabbit, to make different pieces of artwork, based on the skills they had been learning this term.

Our Nursery children had been visited by some exotic animals and chose to make a hand-printed python. Our Reception children worked together on making paintings or collages of different animals. The class winners were a painting of a multicoloured jellyfish, which won the House Challenge overall, and a collage of a hedgehog using a button for a nose and lolly sticks for prickles. In Year One, they had been focussing on pointillism and so created some fantastic pieces of art out of dots. In Year Two, the children had been learning different techniques for making a collage, including: folding, tearing, scrunching, overlapping and overlaying and produced very creative collages of our school learning power heroes, using a wide variety of different materials. The children voted for their class winner and all children had an opportunity to visit the Hall to look at all of the results.

All the learning is fantastic and it is always really hard to choose an overall winner. However the children voted and decided on the following;

ART HOUSE CHALLENGE WINNERS

1st  Conkers -      Jersey Farm with a Jellyfish

2nd Nursery -      The Wick with a handprint python

3rd Pinecones -   Clarence Park with a hedgehog
